RELIGIOUS CONGREGATION COVID-19 VACCINE PLEDGE
Background:
The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically impacted humanity across the globe. It has been particularly devasting to vulnerable populations that are marginalized and suffer from social inequities and health disparities. As religious congregations, we understand the moral need for religious and social institutions to alleviate suffering and protect our community residents. We believe that faith and reason are always complementary, therefore, religion and science should align to confront this global public health crisis and serve the public good.
We acknowledge that many members of our community are wary of receiving the COVID-19 vaccine because of historic injustice and mistrust of government and healthcare systems. We seek to assuage these fears by endorsing the COVID-19 public health guidelines and strategies established by our local and state departments and Centers for Disease Control and Preventions.
Pledge:
We, therefore, as religious congregations pledge to support the work of our local public health systems by working to ensure that all residents have access to the COVID-19 vaccine. We also pledge to use our various resources and social influence to:
We believe this pledge will help ensure public confidence in the COVID-19 vaccine.
Together, we will work to make our communities safe and healthy places where all people are valued and flourish.

- Encourage all members of our congregations and members of our community to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
- Establish volunteer networks to work with our medical providers to ensure that everyone who is eligible and wants to be vaccinated can receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
- Provide resources and transportation services to ensure that vulnerable members of our community can safely access existing vaccination locations.
- Lead by example by ensuring that our congregational leaders personally receive the COVID-19 vaccine and publicly encourage others to do likewise.
We believe this pledge will help ensure public confidence in the COVID-19 vaccine.
